M-LOK Rail Covers

M-LOK rail covers are panels that bolt into the M-LOK slots on your handguard to cover exposed rail, add grip where your support hand sits, and put a barrier between your palm and a hot barrel. Ours start as a heat-resistant polymer blank with a checkered grip texture, then get printed with UV-hardened graphics — printed, never engraved — so the artwork sits over the texture instead of cutting it away.

Every cover on this page uses the M-LOK attachment standard, so the same panel fits an AR-15, an AR-10, or an AK build. If the handguard has M-LOK slots, these fit it.

What a rail cover actually does

How many do you need

These come in one size and ship as a three-pack. Each panel is 4.7″ long and covers three M-LOK slots, which is the standard grip footprint for one hand.

Most builds take one to three panels:

If you would rather measure than count: M-LOK slots sit on 1.5″ centers, so every 4.7″ of open rail takes one panel.

Fitment by platform

M-LOK is a slot standard, not a platform standard. The slot geometry is identical whether the handguard is bolted to an AR-15 upper, an AR-10 upper, or an AK. That means one panel covers every rifle in your safe that has M-LOK slots.

Handguard material does not matter — these mount to polymer, carbon fiber and aluminum handguards alike. What does not fit: KeyMod handguards, Picatinny quad rails, and smooth handguards with no slots. Those need a different cover.

Installation

  1. Clear the rifle and confirm it is unloaded.
  2. Drop the M-LOK nut through the slot from the outside and rotate it a quarter turn so it sits crosswise behind the rail.
  3. Set the panel over three consecutive slots and start the screws by hand.
  4. Tighten with a T20 Torx driver until the panel stops moving. Snug, not gorilla-tight — you are clamping a polymer panel, not torquing a barrel nut.
  5. Push and twist the panel to confirm it does not rock, then re-check after your first range trip.

No armorer's tools, no disassembly, no removing the handguard. A panel goes on in under two minutes, and all the hardware you need is in the package.

Printed, never engraved

Engraving cuts the design into the material, which limits you to one color and destroys the grip texture wherever it cuts. We print instead: full color, UV-hardened, laid over the checkering so the design survives handling and sunlight without the surface going smooth. That is why a photographic camo or a multi-color graphic works on our panels and does not work on an engraved one.

Every design on this page can also be swapped for your own. Upload art in the Design Your Own tool, preview it on the panel, and order the one you built. Custom prints ship in 3–5 business days.

Frequently asked questions

What are M-LOK rail covers for?

They cover exposed M-LOK slots on a handguard to add grip, block heat transfer from the barrel and gas system to your support hand, keep debris out of the handguard, and protect gear and skin from sharp rail edges.

Will M-LOK rail covers fit my handguard?

If your handguard has M-LOK slots, yes. M-LOK is a fixed standard, so slot dimensions and the 1.5″ spacing between slots are the same on every M-LOK handguard regardless of brand, platform, or whether the handguard is polymer, carbon fiber or aluminum.

Do the same rail covers fit AR-15, AR-10 and AK-47?

Yes. The panel attaches to the slot, not to the rifle, so one M-LOK panel fits all three. The only difference between platforms is how many panels a handguard has room for.

What size are these rail covers?

One size: 4.7″ long, 0.6″ wide and 0.1″ thick, covering three M-LOK slots per panel. They ship as a three-pack, which is enough to wrap the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock faces of a typical handguard.

What are these rail covers made of?

Heat-resistant polymer, moulded as a single piece with a checkered grip texture, then printed. Made in the U.S.A.

Do rail covers actually reduce heat?

They reduce heat transfer to your hand. Polymer conducts heat far more slowly than the aluminum handguard underneath it, so the panel stays touchable longer than bare rail. It is a barrier, not a heat shield — sustained fire will still heat the whole handguard.

Are the designs printed or engraved?

Printed. We use a UV-hardened print process rather than laser engraving, which is what allows full-color and photographic designs. Engraving would limit the panel to a single-color cut into the surface and would flatten the grip texture where it cut.

Will the print wear off a rail cover?

The print is UV-hardened and cures into the surface rather than sitting on it as a sticker or film. Expect it to hold up to normal handling, sensible use of cleaning solvents, and sunlight. Like any finish, abrasive contact will eventually mark it.

Can I put my own image on a rail cover?

Yes. Use the Design Your Own tool to upload artwork, position it on the panel, and see a live mockup before ordering. Personal photos, unit or team art, and original graphics all work.

Does the rail cover come with mounting hardware?

Yes. All mounting hardware is included with every panel. You supply a T20 Torx driver.

Do I need special tools to install rail covers?

A T20 Torx driver, and nothing else. There is no handguard removal and no armorer's tooling involved; a panel installs in under two minutes.

How much do M-LOK rail covers cost?

A three-pack of custom-printed M-LOK rail covers is $33. Custom artwork does not change the price — your own image costs the same as a design off this page.

How long do custom rail covers take to ship?

Custom prints ship in 3–5 business days.
